Lower Seletar Reservoir
The Origin Story
Introducing one of the two major bodies in Yishun - the Lower Seletar Reservoir.
Located at the northern edge of Yishun’s residential estates, the Lower Seletar Reservoir not only plays a key role in Singapore’s water catchment system but also serves as an accessible and tranquil retreat for residents seeking respite from urban life.

Lower Seletar Reservoir was established as part of the Sungei Seletar–Bedok Water Scheme, with its construction completed in 1986. This project involved the building of a dam that impounded the Sungei Seletar river to create a significant water body.
In 1992, the reservoir was renamed Lower Seletar Reservoir to distinguish it from the older Upper Seletar Reservoir at Mandai.
